Anurag Tyagi | | That way Microsoft would turn out to be the biggest friend of Open Source Software.

James Griffin Media | | I also think Microsoft drives a lot of this as well, from their pricey software, failure to address security, lack of transparency and often their 'let 'em twist in the wind' attitude.
That's not to say I hate Microsoft or dislike them but they are what they are. To be fair to Microsoft, they do offer value -- if not, they wouldn't exist or be as powerful as there are many, many substitutes out there.

>> Barry Caplan - Start Your Future Today | | I agree that there is market space that the Oracles and Microsofts leave open - no one can capture everything.
But Free Software predates the existence of either, or at least the dominance...Its origins lie in the licensing policies of Unix by ATT way back when, and maybe that of other minicomputer companies of the time (Digital, Data General, etc.)...I forget the exact timing, but I am sure the history is available at fsf.org.
Best,

And the other nice thing is you can actual review the source code and don't have to worry about getting access to it or having to put it in escrow.

Rajiv Poddar | | The prevailing view in corporate circles is that to stay competetive every company has to embrace open source and build upon its advantages.

That's right. Escrow accounts can be a real and huge hassle for both parties.
